Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, former Vice Chairman, APC Lagos East Senatorial District, has called for unity among the political leaders and groups in Ikorodu Division.

He said that the party leaders are evolving a process that would not bring disunity and discord again among aspirants and groups during the electioneering period.

Kaoli, who was also a former Commissioner for Agriculture during the administration of President Bola Tinubu as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, made the appeal at the Award Dinner of the Lagos State Supervisors and Special Advisers Ikorodu Division Forum (LSSIKDF), at the AiRoyal Hotels, Aga, Ikorodu.

“We have started a crusade for positioning Ikorodu for 2027. A crusade of unification, building consensus and bottom – up from our local government and not outside. That is what we have started”, he revealed.

“I am happy that we have the six council chairmen here and about 42 Supervisory Councilors from the 30 wards. In other words, each ward has a Supervisory Councilor in addition to Councilors. In other words, every ward is represented here which is the grassroots.

“My message to you is Ikorodu APC is one. We have the leadership structure which is the Apex, even though we are in Justice Forum and The Mandate, but with the consensus and unification that we are building today, whatever we shall do, we shall build it on this consensus”, he added.

While charging party leaders and members at the event to spread the gospel of unity, Asipa Kaoli assured that APC would never go into any primary election divided again.

“We will not go to any primary (election) divided. We will not go to any primary with cutlasses, guns and any dangerous weapons. We are aware of what happened at Ita Elewa and other places. We don’t want that anymore”, he said.

“We would sit down, give and take; compromise and build consensus and thereafter, go to the primary peacefully and come to vote in the general elections.

“That is the crusade that we must all take back home. I thank our elders who are here and those not here. They all buy into this vision because come 2027, in unity we stand, strong and divided we fall”.

He said that disunity has denied Ikorodu the governorship position and infrastructure, and charged concerned political leaders and people to come together.

“Our father (Prince Abiodun Ogunleye) always tell us his own story. Ikorodu ought to have gotten the governorship for a long time, but some people said no. This time around, let us stay united if we want Ikorodu to have good roads all over within four years like in Surulere and Epe, we must have a Governor from Ikorodu. So, let us stay united”, Asipa Kaoli charged.
